Aug 01, 2008 - Burgas, Burgas, Bulgaria - There are several undergound coal mines In Bulgaria still operational. Coals are being used to generate electricty in the powerstations near this mine. Coal provides almost 100 % of the national electricty demands of Bulgaria. Most mines are privatised. Working conditions are hard in the mines. Workers descent up to 700 meter underground. It is dangerous as the safety regulations are not taken very seriously. Workers have wages between 200 to 400 euro's per month. Most of them die young before 50 due to lung diseases.
